DEANDRÉ COUSLEY
DeAndré Cousley is a Queens-born dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist whose passion for movement began at age thirteen upon his acceptance into the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. During his time there, he was recognized as a Merit Winner by the National YoungArts Foundation and went on to receive a full scholarship to Steps on Broadway’s Professional Training Program.
At Steps, DeAndré trained extensively in ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary techniques under the guidance of renowned choreographers such as Chet Walker, Bill Hastings, Mimi Quillin, Dana Moore, Debbie Roshe, Helen Pickett, Max Stone, Nijawwon Matthews, and Janis Brenner. He also performed with The Next Stage Project, directed by Jana Hicks and Marijke Eliasberg. His professional growth was further shaped by elite intensives, including Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Sidra Bell Dance New York, and Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts.
After completing his training in 2016, DeAndré toured internationally with Janis Brenner & Dancers, performing in the world premiere of Once You’re Not a Stranger in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also taught and performed in Mostar, continuing his commitment to community-based artistry. His concert dance credits include work with Nimbus2, Emotions Physical Theater, and multiple collaborations with XY Dance Project.
DeAndré is also a vibrant force in the commercial dance world. He has appeared in Billy Porter’s powerful music video “Children,” worked with VMA-winning choreographer Matthew Pasterisa, and contributed choreography and performance to several independent music visuals. As a long-time member of the acclaimed hip-hop collective MasterZ At Work, he has performed in high-profile showcases across the U.S., recently traveling to Spain and returning this fall for a London debut with the company.
Most recently, DeAndré completed a European tour with the high-energy dance production Rock the Ballet, further establishing his global presence as a versatile and in-demand performer.
He continues to pursue a dynamic and multifaceted career across both concert and commercial stages—dedicated to creating work that is bold, expressive, and rooted in authenticity.
